They say recognition and appreciation is one of the most, if not the most desired outcomes of one's hard work.

Personally, I couldn't agree more.

Of the six basic human needs (certainty, uncertainty, significance, love and connection, growth, contribution), significance remains as one of our most sought after.

Every single person wants to be loved, appreciated and recognized for exactly who they are and what they are doing.

I have never met a person who doesn't want to be involved in something greater than themselves.

Doing so fulfills as many of our needs spanning across uncertainty, growth, contribution, love and connection as well as significance.

This all sounds great but how can we deliver significance to others on a daily basis?

Here is the beauty of this lesson. It's so much simpler than you ever thought.

Recognize others around you any and every time you can for their contributions.

Say thank you and express appreciation to others around you for what they are contributing.

This simple rule goes for your team, your family, your friends and quite frankly anyone you associate with on a regular or infrequent basis.

You will never run into a position where you are asked to stop expressing recognition and appreciation.

This is a direct feedback tool you have at your access 24 seven enabling you to reinforce desired actions as well as refine actions that are a work in process.

My recommendation is to use this and to do so as frequently as possible.

Delivering recognition and appreciation on a regular basis enables us to create a growth-minded environment full of significance to everyone around us including ourselves.

Hesitation, simply put is our inability to follow our heart?

Let me explain.

Whenever we are faced with a decision, we intuitively have a gut feeling.

This gut feeling is directly linked to your heart.


Studies dating back to the times of ancient philosophers show that whenever an event occurs and we begin to form judgment of the event whether it supports or challenges us, the initial physiological change in our body begins with a change in heart rhythm rather than brain signal.

This means we see something, your heart detects it, adjusts its rhythm, sends a signal to the brain and then the brain begins to perceive the situation.

So how is it the heart makes the first call?

The heart is said to be directly linked to your soul.

With that said, your heart understands what is most important to you in your life.

This means the change in heart rhythm is based upon your best interests and what the heart feels would bring more benefits than drawbacks into your life.

It’s what initiates what we call our gut feeling.

So what is the problem here?

By the time our minds get any form of signal, our hearts have already read and perceived the situation based on what we value most in our lives.

If we haven’t specifically defined what is most important to us in our lives, our gut feeling in many cases becomes confusing and this leads to hesitation.

So how do we prevent this?

It’s as simple as 1, 2, 3!

1.) Define specifically what is most important to you in your life.

2.) Understand that when you have a gut feeling, it is coming from a place of your best interest.

3.) Answer the question: How does acting on my gut benefit what is most important to me in my life.

Answer this final question over and over again until your mind catches up to your heart and you too will see that the heart just knows.

So how do we eliminate hesitation?

Trust your heart.

Caring Matters

If we don't care, we don't contribute.

Too many times in my personal and professional career have I met people only focused on themselves.

Now I am a firm believer that taking care of ourselves first in many regards is absolutely crucial to better serve others in our lives.

Conditioning your body to prime yourself through exercise and high-quality nutrition. Conditioning your mind to prime yourself through continuous personal and professional development.

Best preparing ourselves I feel enables us to put our best foot forward in every instance of our lives.

So what about this Service thing? We are here to serve?

To me, serving others is providing care in the form of a product or service that will benefit others.

Whatever we do whether it be a chef, general contractor and, airline pilot or a priest we serve others.

Let me let you in on something you most likely know...

If we are not interested in caring for others, we are not truly serving them whatsoever. In fact we may just be doing the opposite.

I believe every person is here to for fill a purpose. We all shine differently and it's up to us to bring that light to others we feel would benefit from it like we have.

We are here to contribute to others lives and I feel anything less than that is entitlement on our parts.

So I'll say it again...

If we don't care, we don't contribute.

The Greater The Challenge…


Once upon a time there was a man who wanted all the riches of the world, but who lacked the courage to leave the comforts of his home.

Every day for years and years he was given daily challenges, which he failed to follow through on time and time again.

When it came down to it, he was too lazy and scared to step out of his own personal box he had grown so accustomed to.

One day, he heard a knock at door.

When he opened the door he looked down to see a box sitting on the door-step with his name on it.

He brought the box inside anxiously wondering what was in it.

When he opened it up, he couldn’t believe his eyes. All the riches he had ever dreamed for we’re sitting right before him.

Have you ever heard this story before?


Me either…

Here’s a truth slap.

The greater the challenge, the greater the reward.

Every day I run into people who want something for nothing never realizing that’s not how it works.

If you want something big for your life, you must desire to serve others in a big way by taking on big challenges.

If you want something ridiculously huge in your life, you must desire to serve others in a ridiculously huge way taking on ridiculously huge challenges.

The greater the challenge we take on, the more it enables us to stretch ourselves.

The more we stretch ourselves, the more we grow.

The more we grow, the more we are rewarded and hence…

The greater the challenge, the greater the reward.

Talk Or Execute

There is talk and there is execution.

I hear people day in and day out talking about all the things they want in all areas of their lives.

Whether it be a better relationship, a better job, more money, more toys or whatever it may be.

At the same time, these very people are the same ones who put their kids to bed at night only to find themselves stuck to the couch for the rest of the evening.

Now I’m not judging, I’m just here with the virtual truth slap to let you know that this is not going to get you what you say you want in your life.

This is your time to make the decision if you are going to just talk, or if you are going to EXECUTE.

If I’ve learned anything, its that people like to talk and talk and talk about all the things they want in their lives and all the excuses they have as to why they don’t have them in their lives already.

They were dealt a bad hand, there aren’t enough hours in the day, and a whole other herd of bullshit we feed ourselves to make us feel better from the truth.

The truth is that we simply aren’t executing to the degree we are fully capable of.

One of the most interesting, simple and truthful insights I’ve come across is the fact that the most successful people in the world in all areas have the exact same amount of time every single day that you and I both have to make everything happen.

That’s right. 24 hours.

So what’s the difference?

The difference is in how it’s allocated.

It’s time management and that is it.

If you don’t have time at the end of the day when your kids go to bed, then get up earlier and make the time then.

If you don’t have the time then, look at every other minute of the day every day where you can create productive time to move towards what you want by executing.

Remember, nobody will ever want to achieve what you want more than you do.

If you aren’t willing to stop making excuses and only talking about what you want, you WILL in fact remain exactly where you say you don’t want to.

If you don’t start executing in your own life, there certainly isn’t anyone else who is going to do it for you.

It’s time to make it happen and execute.
